Bloom Aesthetic and Laser Clinic is now open on Al Wasl Road
In a fast paced, cosmopolitan city such as Dubai, we work late hours, do not get much exercise, rely on take out for meals and overindulge on the weekend. All of this takes a toll on our skin and before we know it we are investing heavily in expensive makeup to cover up the puffy under eyes, dark circles and tired, aging skin. The sedentary lifestyle leads to weight gain and many people resort to going under the knife to combat the increased weight. However, all hope is not lost – Bloom Aesthetic and Laser Clinic has just opened at Jumeirah’s Al Wasl Road and the treatments are non-invasive combining state of the art technology to provide effective skin care, hair care, weight loss and laser procedures.
Headed by Kanta Jethwani and Vidhi Khubchandani, the Aesthetic and Laser Clinic is the first in the UAE to have FDA approved technologies Revlite, BTL Vanquish and BTL Exilis for skin care and weight loss.
“The BTL Vanquish is non-surgical procedure, an alternative to liposuction, which uses radiofrequency energy to induce the death of fat cells by destroying fat cells and sculpting the midsection and waistline. The whole procedure is a series of painless brief sessions with zero downtime. The only discomfort the person will feel is a warming sensation.
At Bloom Aesthetic and Laser Clinic, individual treatments and services are elevated to become an all-encompassing, life altering experience by ensuring patients receive the most personalized treatments from experts using some of the industry’s premier equipment for safe and effective results. The Clinic has 13 treatment rooms and the range of services at Bloom include non- surgical skin enhancing treatments, hair loss solutions, luxurious facials, skin- toning, tightening and weight loss programs, body slimming, skin rejuvenation treatments, laser procedures and more.
Dum Dum Donutterie is open!
The London export is finally open in Dubai, Umm Suqeium. Boosting a healthier version of the doughnut and cronut all items at Dum Dum are baked and not fried.
Since they bake all sweet treats fresh and on the spot the daily and hourly selection changes.
Tried the fantastic dum dum dubai – a special for Dubai, with karak cream and hints of cinnamon and rose. Strawberry and cream, strawberry jam meshing with the cream makes it a light almost guilt free dessert. The zebra ‘cro’ topped with shaved chocolate bits and dusted in sugar with a coffee cream. As for drinks their iced karak coffee really stood out, the sweetness of the karak cuts through the bitterness of the coffee.
Grab a doughnut or a ‘cro’ from Dum Dum Donutterie before they sell out (which is quite often) and stay tuned for their new branch coming soon to JBR.
Gulfood 2016 with Lavazza
Gulfood having a plethora of stalls and things to check out is a huge understatement. Huge halls, interconnected and dedicated to all things food, with innovative offerings at every corner.
Now Lavazza launched a fantastic 7 hour cold brew with a unique preparation method, this needs to hit stores fast. The taste develops best at hour 8 and is made with with the finest coffee beans.
Apart from that their new Brazilian and Tanzanian ranges are also full bodied and delicious, check out that latte art made on the spot in under 3 minutes!
With Lavazza slowly launching into the Middle East market and hitting retail shelves soon (actually we’ve already seen quite a few stores stocking Lavazza).
Tapas Friday Brunch at The Huddle, Citymax Bur Dubai
Not exactly a tapas brunch but has a good selection of starters (assorted salads, cold cuts, cheeses, sandwiches), decent mains (loved the calamari) and desserts (the tiramisu cake was the best) with free flowing alcoholic drinks all for only 99 AED. Brunch is served from 12pm to 4 pm every Friday.
Girders Garden BBQ Masterclass
Recently tried out Girders Garden for a BBQ Masterclass. Apart from watching the preparation into barbecuing meat we got to try out a lot of what Girders Garden has to offer. Brisket, ribs, chicken wings and so much more. Loved their strawberry daiquiri.
Dining with Ahlan Gourmet: Jodhpur in Al Murooj Rotata
Visited Jodhpur for a media dinner and even got to talk to Chef Prassad about the concept and different twists to each dish.
One of the highlights was the live cooking demo of the sea bass in the coconut milk broth (the coconut overpowered the dish for me).
The vegetarian options here are fantastic, may even be better than the non veg options. Although the lamb raan which was incredibly tender and juicy proves great competition for the vegetarian dishes.
Dessert is also not to be missed with jalebi dunked in cheesecake rabdi, chocolate cake and a tuile of rock candy with coffee flavored cream.

Al Boom Tourist Village re-opens with a whole new look
Al Boom Tourist Village situated in the heart of Bur Dubai, launches its new extension ‘Zaman Awal’ and re-opens its doors to locals and tourists alike showcasing a refurbished venue.
Zaman Awal refers to bringing back old heritage with a new twist; the restaurant within the venue serves Emirati food in a modern yet traditional setting. The Zaman Awal Restaurant carries the age-old folklore of UAE’s heritage with its spot right at the Dubai Creek. A unique concept combined with traditional settings – the interiors of the restaurant glide through the history of Dubai and its development through time. The food served at the restaurant reflects delicacies of typical local food as well as some fusion dishes to cater to different taste buds. Offering a breathtaking view of the Creek, Zaman Awal Restaurant is open on all days for buffet lunch and A la Carte dinner.
Al Aref boat, also called Al Boom, is a 80-year-old boat that was used by the local forefathers for traveling between Dubai and various parts of Asia. Currently in the process of being established as a maritime museum, the lower deck is devoted to traditional artifacts and the upper deck as an Arabian inspired coffee shop.
The Freej Village’s architectural and modern design is inspired by the famous cartoon sitcom and uses its characters at various locations to mark buildings. Some of these buildings are used as heritage sites while others are available to hire for retail purposes and will be used for different festivals and events planned at Zaman Awal.
Another interesting addition to the venue is the Dara ship, also known as the Gulf’s Titanic. Very few people in the region are aware about the history behind this ship, adding it to the venue will allow people to learn more about the travel history of Dubai. The Dara ship was used for travelling purposes along the Gulf countries and it carried from about 850 to 1000 people, the ship sank in the Persian Gulf in 1961 due to an explosion. Many rescued passengers were brought back to Dubai and were treated for injuries at Al Maktoum Hospital.
In addition to the above features, there are about four dhow cruises available for dinner and touring around the Creek. Sailing in traditional boats is also offered at the venue, offering a full recreational experience for the entire family. Al Boom Tourist Village has been in operation for the last 33 years with a new revamp it should be part of your Dubai bucket list!
