Imagine a dinner across all 3 floors of TRE? Starting off in the lounge on the 50th floor with tangy mocktails, then heading down to the 49th floor for a fantastic dinner and ending with dessert and live jazz music on the 51st floor. To sum it up – incredible.
Drinks with a stunning view of Sheikh Zayed Road, no better way to start any night. How about venturing into their VIP room which can hold upto 20 people and you can ‘save the king’.
The restaurant itself (49th floor) is huge with a different set up in each corner. We sat on a long beautifully decorated table stacked with eye catching flowery candle stands.
Coming to the food, starting off with classic margherita pizza and moving on to an octopus salad doused in an olive oil vinaigrette.
More Italian favorites like: parmigiana (which was gobbled up in seconds!) with it’s rich and soft base topped with cheese and pesto. And the burrata was just fantastic, especially when had with the figs and balsamic cream.
As for the giardino misto salad, I felt it was a little lacking in terms of texture and flavors.
How can it be an Italian dinner without pasta and old staples? We were spoilt for choice with 3 delicious choices.
Anatra e pecora (pacchero pasta with Tusan duck ragout and pecorino sauce). My personal favorite was the risotto langhe due to the flavors of the porcini mushrooms, raschera cheese and truffle oil. A close second was the veal agnolotti which had: porcini mushroom sauce, veal jus and truffles.
Mains are yet to come and they didn’t disappoint with perfectly cooked ‘salmone‘ served with seasonal vegetables (asparagus and beetroot <3).
Manzo wagyu strip – 12 oz of josper grilled wagyu strip loin on a bed of ratte mash potatoes. The meat itself was good, a little chewy and pink (it was medium and I’m more of a medium well kind of person).
Highlight of any meal – dessert. This was a mish mash of all sorts of things: cannelloni, green tea cake, gelati, panna cotta, strawberry compote and chocolate mousse. I might have missed something so I’ll let the picture do the talking.
Quite a fun night with great food and even better company!
