Food: Wagamama’s new Palm Jumeirah branch + menu additions

Sorry for the short break but I’ve come back with a post of Wagamama’s delicious new menu! Their new branch is in Golden Mile – an underground mall in Palm Jumeirah and a new foodie haven.

Seating is ‘izakaya’ style – casual but with an upscale vibe, a great place to sit back and relax. Even includes a proper open kitchen where you can watch your food get plated and sent out before your eyes or have a chat with the chefs!

We started off with the customary edamame dusted with salt and then moved onto the the incredibly soft chicken gyoza, loved the kick from the sesame soy sauce.

Tori kara age – succulent pieces of chicken which are deep fried to provide that slightly crisp coating.

Prawn tempura is a classic but Wagamama’s take is a bit different with the prawn meat being flattened and garnished with coriander and red chilies.

Seared tuna steak with cucumber relish and a fantastic quinoa salad. The tuna being a bit dry is best paired with the zesty sauce of the relish,

The beef masaman curry was hands down a fast favorite and won over every table! A silky smooth coconut based curry containing: mushrooms, sweet potatoes, red chilies and coriander.

One of my personal favorites was the teriyaki soba noodles, Tangy noodles drenched in a dressing I’d love a recipe to. Those noodles are then topped with tender bits on lamb and when eaten together prove to be an extremely flavorful combination.

And finally dessert which wasn’t left upto the ordinary: ginger caramel cheesecake, chocolate wasabi cake and passion fruit ginger cheesecake. The standout was the ginger caramel cheesecake – a crumbly base and an oddly harmonious taste! The passion fruit and ginger cheesecake gets overpowered by the passion fruit with a late hitting almost nonexistent ginger aftertaste. As for the chocolate wasabi cake, fear not you shall not be burned with spice – the wasabi flavor itself is quite subdued and fades away before you even realize it’s there.
