New restaurant alert: Spirito – a trip to Brazil

Located at Level 9 of the Media One Hotel in Media City, Spirito sure was buzzing for a Wednesday night! The interiors are quite eclectic, seemingly mismatched. The concept of Spirito is to share – all dishes will be placed in the middle and everyone gets to try a bit of everything!

Firstly, shout out to the amazing service. Not only was our server and his recommendations amazing, but we were handed free drinks since it was happy hour that were promptly switched out when we stated that we don’t drink.
We really loved our mocktails but wish they were bigger, 3 sips and they were over 😦 had to get 2 more! But definitely try the green apple and passion fruit mocktail, the sugary berry one isn’t bad either!

From the small plates, we started with the highly addictive pao de queijo – a cheesy bun with a goats cheese and honey dip. This soft cheese filled bit of heaven was amazing, definitely our new comfort food!

Pastel de quejo – light pastry filled with mozzarella, after following up the pao de queijo it seemed quite average but we really liked its crunchiness. Opt for either but not both.

Coxinha – smoked chicken croquettes. Really fantastic and quite different from the norm since the chicken mince has more flavor due to the smoking process, recommended to try with the mango salsa!

Having always wanted to try banana frittas, we finally got the chance – crisp deep fried banana and when had with the guava syrup would definitely count as dessert.

We also tried out the salad pimenta which was extremely fresh – loved the quinoa. We just wish that the watermelon vinaigrette (main reason this was ordered) would’ve been stronger, we couldn’t really taste a dressing.

The vatapa de camarao (cajun shrimp) paired with a side of Brazilian rice was a brilliant combination. The juicy prawns enveloped in the creamy nutty curry was the perfect combination with the rice.

Chocolate bon bon cake, mmm bon bon cake. Quite a bit of dark chocolate on this one but thoroughly enjoyed.

The coconut sorbert had a luscious, velvety texture without being too sour or overloaded with coconut!

Since Spirito and Crab Tavern are in their soft opening stages, they are offering 50% off for the month of August. Was absolutely buzzing when we went, we’re guessing ’cause of that as well as happy hour!

Disclaimer: we were invited to try out Spirito but as always our opinions are honest and unbiased.
