Recently I was invited to a tasting session of a new open in Oud Mehta called Ribbons & Balloons Bakery. The interiors itself are cheerful with pastel pink walls but what’s really eye-catching is the display. There are two separate displays one for normal cakes and the other for eggless cakes!
We started off with some karak chai and a cappuccino. Both the beverages were just strong enough and went well with the sweetness ahead.
The walnut brownie was fantastic, rich and crunchy but not too dense; the perfect combination of heavenly goodness. Definitely going back to pick these up!
Doesn’t this decadent chocolate truffle cake with white chocolate shaving look tempting? Well it sure was, the ganache was thick, the sponge soft and vegetarians rejoice it’s eggless, so are the next two cakes!
This vanilla checkered cake has to be my favorite (alongside the walnut brownies). This beautiful buttercream cake with pink pastel ombre rosettes and an edible ruffle on top, matches the interiors of Ribbons & Balloons and should definitely be their signature cake!
It tastes just as good as it looks, fluffy sponge, silky buttercream, super easy to cut and addictive. The sweetness is also balanced 🙂
Up next is the kitkat cake, which thankfully is not just all chocolate but has biscuit pieces hidden inside. The sponge and ganache are also great.
The chocolate chip cake may look small, my fault since I was filling up, I asked the owner for a super small slice. This cake does have egg in it but you really can’t tell the difference, it also has chocolate chips concealed inside= delicious.
Our final items are Ribbons & Balloon’s chocolate, yes two are missing from the picture. I loved the oreo/caramel chocolate (the round ones at the top of the picture) the best.
